Weekend News

We had a great weekend this past week! Thursday we spent most of the day with the Good Samaritans pricing items for the ICYC yard sale we are doing. It's a lot of fun going through people's old junk. There are always interesting things to discover! Friday I had lunch with some of the ladies at church to celebrate Sally Hyche's birthday. We ate at Cracker Barrel and it was delicious and fun. Then Katie, Hannah, and I took a trip to Party City to find some things we needed for the Graduation Banquet. After that we were off to the ICYC Walkfest. As always, it was a fun time! Jared couldn't go because his parents were on their way in from Brundidge so he had to wait for them to get here. He took them to The Fish Market downtown. Back to the Walkfest...I helped serve food for awhile and then I followed Xander and Addi around. Pam and Addi and Xander and me rode the swing thingy. Xander was a little scared and tried to break out of the buckles! I somehow managed to distract him with crazy things like "Hey! Guess whose in my pocket? It's Diego!" and then he tried to get him out and then remembered he wanted off and finally we started moving and he LOVED it! He wanted to ride again, but it was an extra $3. Nicely, an adult rode free with a child, but once was plenty. Then, at the end of the night, they called the last prize winner. The prize was a tv and guess who won???? ME!!!!! It was my lucky day! I ran down that football field screamimg like a wild banchee to claim my prize! Now my voice is gone and hasn't fully came back! I'm a loud talker, but not a screamer, so I lost my voice. Plus I had sinus problems that also contributed. I lose my voice easy though. Anyway, I had told Xander earlier that night that I MIGHT give him my prize if I win one. You see, 2 years ago I won a #1 Grandpa hat, so I thought I had nothing to lose. Well, Chris tried to say I gave it to Xander so the tv was going to their house, but really! I said MIGHT! Now it is in my bedroom and I am loving it! Saturday Jared, Casey, and Jared's dad, Mr.Harry all went to the Alabama A Day Game. They filled the stadium to capacity and after the first quarter they had to close the doors and not let anyone else in. There were over 92,000 people there. Jared and them got there early and got really good seats. They were about 30 row back on the 35 yard line. They came home burnt to a crisp, but had a good time. Jared's mom and Granny (you might remember her as the Leprechaun in a previous post) and Pam and I went to the WaterMark outlets and spent about 4 hours just in the DressBarn! Pam didn't know what she was in for. lol That night Jared's parents, Granny, Casey, and the two of us went to Dale's in Vestavia Hills. It was very tasty! Then we had dessert at Starbucks and it was good as always! It was a great weekend and I am very fortunate!
How did ya'll like American Idol last night? I really enjoyed it and stayed up too late trying to watch it all after church.
Well, I am looking forward to this weekend!

The Dog

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

I really don't have that much going on, so I decided to write about one of my new favorite shows, Dog the Bounty Hunter! If you have not seen this show, then you are missing out! It's got action, drama, and some view of religion. What more could you ask for? Also, The Dog and his gang caught one of America's Most Wanted last year; however, it ended up being kind of illegal since it was out of the country, and so they got arrested. I'm telling you, the show is something. By the way, I don't think they should be in trouble with the law because they did a good thing. Well, I better go, it's late. I know this is a crazy post, but that's ok, there are far worse things to be crazy about it! So, if you haven't seen The Dog, then check it out on Tuesday nights at 8 pm on A&E channel. Good night bra (that's what The Dog calls people, I think it is short for bro :))

Blinkie Crazy

I guess it's obvious that I, too, have gone blinkie crazy! Katie and I spent a long time on the computer Sunday night and this is what happened!!!! They're cute and the more you look at them the more addicted you become. I think I will stop for now, though because I have things to do and searching blinkies is not one of them!
I am on Spring Break this week and really have no plans. I like that and I don't. I like being able to do things around the house that I never have time to, but I also like going places and having a plan. I've been sleeping in and I think I better stop. I start to feel worse when I wake up because I sleep a lot lomger than I'm used to. It felt good the first two days, but today I should've got on up. Oh well! I hope everyone is having a good day!

The Parade of Leaders walk always brings tears to my eyes. I guess it is a mix of pride, in my church and church family, excitement, and just being with THOUSANDS of Christians! Oh, and the music doesn't help either! Our banner is the blue and gold one. It was carried by Emily Custred and Braianna Montagano.
My mom won a Jonathan Bourland award. I can't tell if the lighting has made her face red or her face is just red because she gets embarrassed in front of large crowds of people. It's probably the latter.
Here's Jared and I before we left Sunday. We are on the balcony of our room.

This past weekend was one of, if not my very favorite times of year! The Lads-to-Leaders convention! It is so much fun and VERY uplifting! A great time of fellowship, celebration, learning, and spiritual growth. I have been involved in the L/L program for 16 years straight! It's helped me in many aspects of my life! I've learned A LOT from being trained in the L/L program. I'm not afraid to speak or sing or lead or get up in front of people. It gave me skills that I use in my career everyday! I know how to win or graciously loose. I know awards are materialistic and the knowledge and life skills learned make me who I am today. I've gained Bible knowledge, and am still gaining. I've learned to care and do for others because it's the Christian thing to do, because I want to, not because I want to earn a platinum (although it's a good incenitive that teaches you to do so as an adult). L/L literally paid for half of my college, which is where I found my husband, met some of THE BEST people on Earth, and had THE time of my life! If you don't leave the convention on a spirtitual high and completely encouraged and on fire to be better, then something is wrong! Dr. Zorn may be unique, but the program he built is truly training young people all over the world to be the future of the Lord's Church and that is truly magnificent! So, to all my friends out there... here's a huge THUMBS UP!!!! See ya next year, Easter weekend!!!!
